• Sharps: go up a half step from the last sharp to find the major tonic.
• Flats: the second-to-last flat names the major key.
• Remember these separately: C major and A minor have no sharps or flats; F major and D minor have one flat, B♭.
• The relative minor starts a minor third (three half steps) below the major tonic. They share the same key signature.
